Frequently asked questions
All in-centre tutorials are held at Accelerated Learning Tutoring Centre in Nedlands, opposite the Broadway Fair Shopping Centre at Suite 1/105 Broadway, Nedlands WA 6009.
The centre houses an extensive library of educational resources, textbooks, and practice materials that are incorporated into lessons to provide meaningful and challenging questions for in-depth learning.
Our small-group tutorials typically have 2–4 students. We deliberately keep groups small to maximise the individual attention each student receives while still providing the benefits of collaborative learning. Students work through problems under the tutor's guidance and learn from observing how others approach questions.
Primary School: Yes. Many Australian primary schools don't assign enough maths homework for students to develop the practice and problem-solving skills vital for mastering mathematics. We typically provide additional study material for younger students to practise at home.
Lower Secondary: It depends on the student's school. Some schools don't assign sufficient homework for adequate learning. In these cases, we're happy to provide additional practice material and extra questions for test and exam preparation.
Upper Secondary: Year 11 and 12 students typically receive adequate homework from their schools, but we provide additional practice questions for tests and exams as needed.
Resource Centre: Our tutoring centre maintains an extensive library of textbooks, notes, sample exam papers, and worked solutions that are incorporated into tutorials.
Teaching Methods: Lessons are tailored to each student's needs and consist of:
Detailed explanations of key concepts
Line-by-line worked examples of typical questions
Students attempting a wide variety of questions from multiple sources
Problem-solving practice with more challenging questions
Our Philosophy on Technology: We deliberately minimize technology use in tutorials to facilitate better kinesthetic learning. Research shows that handwriting notes leads to better memory retention and understanding than typing. For younger students especially, we limit calculator use to improve arithmetic abilities, numerical intuition, and foundational skills that support higher-level mathematics.
